3D Tutorial: Lighting Up with FumeFX

How to light up a sphere without a light source with FumeFX in 3ds max 9. The whole process (here condensed to 5 minutes) took about an hour on a 2.8 GHz; some values could be lowered for efficiency's sake. Not shown here: fluid mapping, which could greatly increase realism, and a better gradient for the smoke, which turned out to be a boring dark gray (although that is how it is in real life). Music here is Mr. Scruff - Bonce. That's all. Enjoy!

It's impossible to read what settings you're putting into it.That's fast rendering, my computer took 5 minutes to do that.

Quick tip - I found that if you make the object crazy small and zoom a cam into it really close you get the same size effect going, with very short render time and low mem usage.
